Steve Elsworth Steve Elsworth has a BA and an MA in English from Lancaster University, and started teaching in 1977.

He has combined teaching and writing throughout his career, and has written more than thirty EFL books. In the 1980s, he wrote books for the popular series, and edited two magazines - BBC Modern English and Modern English International.

He also became a specialist on acid rain and global warming, worked as a journalist and wrote articles for national newspapers in the UK. In the late 1980s he wrote tw books about the environment, speeches for Members of Parliament, and campaigning leaflets and briefings. He worked for Greenpeace from 1988 to 1992, commissioned national advertising campaigns, edited a number of advertisements, leaflets, and fundraising letters. He also wrote postcards home when he was travelling.

Since 1993, he has been a full-time writer of EFL books with Jim Rose.


Jim Rose

Jim Rose has a BSC in Ecology from Exeter University and an MA in Applied Linguistics from Lancaster University.
After travelling and teaching in West Africa in the late seventies, Jim became a teacher trainer at International House, London - the beginning of a ten-year association with ih.
During this period, he set up a teacher training department in Brazil, and established a Self-Access centre and computer facility at ih London. He started Theatre in English Abroad (TEA Company) performing plays across Europe. In 1987 Jim became Director of Studies for Teacher Training at International House in London.
After completing an MA at Lancaster University in 1992 he took up a university post lecturing on Managing Development in ELT.
Jim is now a full-time writer and lives in Lancaster with this family. With Steve Elsworth he is the author of several successful ELF books.
