Steve Elsworth has a BA and an MA in English from Lancaster University, and started teaching in 1977. He has combined teaching and writing throughout his career, and has written more than thirty EFL books. In the 1980s, he wrote books for the popular series, and edited two magazines - BBC Modern English and Modern English International. He also became a specialist on acid rain and global warming, worked as a journalist and wrote articles for national newspapers in the UK. In the late 1980s he wrote tw books about the environment, speeches for Members of Parliament, and campaigning leaflets and briefings. He worked for Greenpeace from 1988 to 1992, commissioned national advertising campaigns, edited a number of advertisements, leaflets, and fundraising letters. He also wrote postcards home when he was travelling. Since 1993, he has been a full-time writer of EFL books with Jim Rose.
